Water Parks Orlando Florida – Which of the Water Parks in Orlando is the Best?
It gets hot in Orlando in the summer, there is no doubt about that. We see temperatures from the mid 80s (considered cool in the summer) to the high 90s. Thankfully not usually in the 100s.
The good news is you find lots of water parks in Orlando Florida where you can cool off from the heat and have a lot of fun. Let’s see what some of the most popular water parks are.
First there is Wet n Wild, which is hugely popular, and in fact the most popular water park in the country. It has some multi-million-dollar rides and shows, and plenty of them, which probably accounts for its great popularity with tourists and locals alike.
Located off of International Drive, you’ll find it within easy driving distance of downtown Orlando and is open year round. To beat the crowds, try heading over in the late afternoon or evening during the times when the park is open till 11 p.m.
There are two water parks at Disney World Resort which are built around very creative themes, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Blizzard Beach is themed around a mountain, and one of the really fun things to do is ride the chair lift up to the top of Mount Gushmore, a 90-foot snow-capped mountain. Once at the top you can opt to get down by way of a straight down plunge (too scary for me), or you can ride a speed slide and make your way down this way.
Typhoon Lagoon is themed around a shrimp boat called Miss Tilly. The story is that the boat was carried by a typhoon and landed on top of a 95-foot mountain called Mt Mayday.
Even if these were the only 3 water parks in Orlando Florida that would be enough for most people, or more than enough. But Sea World recently opened Aquatica, their own water park, and it is really awesome, much more than your average water park. There are twin wave pools, Cutback Cove and Big Surf Shores, that operate individually according to various guests, as well as Taumata Racer, Walhalla Wave, HooRoo Run, Walkabout Waters, Tassie’s Twisters, Dolphin Plunge (goes right through a dolphin pool, very cool), Whanau Way, and Kata’s Kookaburra Cove, among others.
So as you can see there are plenty of water parks in Orlando Florida for you to cool off with. Beware the crowds though! They are fierce.
