What do You Like to do at Walt Disney World Resort Orlando Besides Just Going to the Parks?

Even though I have lived in Orlando Florida since 1971 (the year Walt Disney World opened), I never get tired of visiting. In fact I just love theme parks in general. I enjoy the rides and attractions, but also the people watching too.

But you may be wondering what there is to do, if anything at Walt Disney World Resort Orlando besides the parks themselves.

Frankly, there are many many choices. There is Downtown Disney which is home to Cirque du Soleil La Nouba (I’ll talk about that in another post but don’t miss it), Disney Quest Indoor Interactive Theme Park (amazingly fun but always threatening to close, so see it while you can), House of Blues, and for your movie entertainment, the Pleasure Island AMC complex with 24 theaters. For dining choices, and this is still just at Downtown Disney, you have Bongos Cuban Cafe, House of Blues again, Planet Hollywood (I got a great burger there last time I was there), Rainforest Cafe (extremely fun but not very cheap), Wolfgang Puck Cafe (I have not been here), among others. The website says the T-Rex Cafe is coming soon, sounds interesting. And in addition to this there are many really interesting shops to explore. So you could easily spend the day at Downtown Disney.

If you happen to be planning to travel to Orlando Florida around November there is the Festival of the Masters art show which is also held at Downtown Disney and is amazing. Don’t miss it if you get the chance to see it.

You could also make a day of just exploring all the hotels located on Disney property along with their very excellent restaurants. When I was a kid we used to go to have dinner every now and then at the restaurant in the Contemporary which is called Top of the World. I haven’t been there in many years but the food used to be quite excellent.

If you are planning to be here in the summer don’t miss Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon water parks.

Well that is just a tip of the iceberg, there is so much to do at Walt Disney World Resort Orlando that it will take a few more posts to get to it all. I usually have an annual pass and mine expired at the beginning of the summer. Just talking about Disney is making me feel like buying a new pass. I think I will!
