Vacation Orlando – Best Beaches Close to Orlando
What’s better than a summer vacation, Orlando Florida? Well maybe there are a few things but a trip to Central Florida can be amazing. There are so many things to do you’ll have trouble deciding, but most people like to spend at least one day at the beach, especially if they don’t normally live near the coast. But what are the best beaches close to Orlando?
Well you might have heard of “the world’s most famous beach,” Daytona Beach. It is advertised as such and it might or might not be, but it sure is a fun way to spend a day relaxing in the sun and sand. You can drive on some areas of the beach, and there are many activities along the boardwalk to keep both kids and adults happy throughout the day and into the evening.
New Smyrna Beach is another close-by beach, and one that I personally like to visit. It is just south of Daytona Beach and you’ll find it to be a little less crowded.
And a little farther south you’ll find Cocoa Beach and the nearby Kennedy Space Center if you get tired of the water. This beach is advertised as “orlando’s closest beach.” It could be, depending on where in Orlando you are starting from. It’s basically about an hour’s drive. You’ll find a lot of cruise ships leaving out of Cocoa, and also a lot of deep sea fishing on a daily basis. There is also parasailing and a casino cruise ship if you’re in the mood to gamble the day away.
There is also Ormond Beach, which is located just a bit north of Daytona, if you want to escape the crowds and hotels of Daytona Beach and find a quieter area.
Once you decide which beach to spend the day at you can enjoy such things as people watching (always amusing and entertaining), sunbathing (some sun is good for you but be careful not to burn), playing in the water, walking in the surf along the beach, building sand castles, boogie boarding, body surfing, or cruising along the beach in your car if it’s allowed.
A vacation in Orlando would just not be complete without a trip to a nearby beach.
