Orlando Florida Vacations – Best and Different Things to do on an Orlando Vacation
Not all people taking Orlando Florida vacations are wanting to go to Disney World or any of the other many theme parks. But what else is there to do? Plenty, thankfully.
Don’t forget the St Johns River which stretches 300 miles long. You can rent a boat and go boating or you can do some fishing along the shores.
If you would like to explore the surrounding areas of Orlando you’ll find many state parks where you can go bird watching, hiking, camping, swimming, and sometimes horseback riding.
Speaking of horseback riding, there’s another great activity. Horse rentals are available at Rock Springs Run State Reserve off of 46 a bit outside of Orlando in Sorrento. If it’s a nice day out this is very enjoyable. They specialize in providing guided trail rides for visitors to the park. There are 14,000 acres to ride on, and you’ll see such things as the Florida black bear, hawks, deer, songbirds, and tortoises. They try hard to match up the horse with the rider’s experience, thereby ensuring a pleasant ride for everyone.
For golfers, there are many golf courses located in and around Orlando Florida for your enjoyment during your vacations.
Quaint small towns abound, and you can stroll through these small towns and enjoy the antique shops, unique restaurants, and shopping. You’ll also find Victorian houses and museums to browse. Many of these towns such as Mount Dora have performing arts centers where you can take in a play.
The West Orange Trail is a biking/hiking paved trail which stretches over 20 miles and winds through many small towns. You can do some inline skating, biking, or just walking. Dogs are allowed so bring your pooch along.
There is a greyhound racing track in Sanford, just outside of Orlando, if you want to do some wagering. You can also bet on the horse races from there as well.
So if you think your Orlando Florida vacations have to be all about the theme parks, try these other activities next time for a change of pace.
