What are the Best Orlando Florida Beaches?

If you are looking for a beach in Orlando Florida you won’t find any because….well….it’s Central Florida! We aren’t on the coast, we are right in the middle of the state. But hey, close enough right?

Okay so given that we are really so close to both coasts, what are the best Orlando Beaches?

I personally like New Smyrna Beach because they have a dog beach area and I like to take my dogs over there. It’s not very long (the dog part), maybe a mile or so, but it’s a nice area to take your pets. They don’t allow you to let your dogs run loose but if there is no one around I always let my dogs loose. Don’t tell anyone.

Of course the most famous beach is Daytona Beach. My friend takes her nephews there every year and they absolutely love it. I don’t really know why people flock to this beach over all others, but probably all the ads which proclaim it to be “The World’s Most Famous Beach.” You can drive your car on the beach in certain areas from sunrise to sunset, although I personally really don’t like cars on the beach. I enjoy walking on the beach and if you ask me, cars don’t belong there. But if you have a convertible it’s a nice drive. You’ll find a lot to do at Daytona Beach including go karts, mini golf, bike rentals, waterslides, surfing, and tons of other things. There is a boardwalk amusement area where you can find much of these activities.

Cocoa Beach is another beach worthy of checking out. That was the beach we used to head to as teenagers. Their slogan is “Orlando’s Closest Beach.” It’s located on the Space Coast about an hour east of Orlando. Could be less depending on where in Orlando you happen to be (Orlando is a large area). But as Orlando Florida Beaches go, it’s always been a favorite of mine. My dad used to go deep sea fishing out at Cocoa all the time, and you can still find a lot of those trips available if you like that activity. I don’t, because I get horrendously seasick, but plenty of people really get a big kick out of it. There is also parasailing available which looks like fun (I’ve never tried it), and Kennedy Space Center is nearby. I haven’t been there since I was a kid but my parents used to drag me there whenever our relatives came to visit. My son went a few years ago and said it was fun, so it has probably changed since my visits because I don’t remember it being a riveting attraction. If you are not from the area though it’s probably something fun for you to check out. It’s also educational too.

Well those are the three main beaches that I consider to be Orlando Florida Beaches. There are others nearby, I’ll look into those and post about them later.
