Old Town Orlando Florida – What is There to do in Old Town Orlando?

I’ve been to Old Town Orlando Florida (actually in Kissimmee) many years ago but was thinking of taking a drive over, so I decided to see what’s new over there, and what there is to do these days.

Apparently they are the home of Florida’s largest weekly car cruise where you can check out 300 classic cars. Not my cup of tea but a lot of people are into old cars so if you are, you might enjoy this.

You can stroll down the streets of brick (not yellow though I think) and browse over 75 unique shops from clothing to jewelry, souvenirs, and collectibles. Well, I love to shop, so I need to check this out. As long as it’s not all touristy stuff like seashell necklaces and orange blossom perfume. Although I do love the smell of orange blossoms.

While browsing the shops you can have an “old time” photo taken experience pulling taffy, and explore a petrified rock forest. I am not tempted by a rock forest, but I’m still considering the shopping.

When you’re ready for lunch or dinner, they have a wide selection of possibilities. There is Old Town Chippy Fish & Chips, Flipper’s Pizzeria (owned by a dolphin?), Kool Katz Grill and Pub, Spring Roll Chinese Restaurant, and the Tropical Breeze Restaurant & Daiquiri Bar among others. For dessert you can head over to the Old Town Ice Cream Company, then coffee at the Old Town Coffee Works.

(Reminds me of St Augustine where everything is “ye old” something or other.)

For the kids and thrill-seekers, there are also rides at Old Town. The most popular thrill ride seems to be something called the “Human Slingshot.” I can tell by the name that I will not be riding this! There is also the Windstorm Roller Coaster (sounds fun), Wave Swinger, Century Ferris Wheel (love those), and the Happy Days Family Go-Kart Track. There is also an area for small kids to ride kiddie rides.

I conclude that Old Town Orlando Florida is worth a visit, so I think I’ll head over one day very soon.
