Mount Dora Hotels
Since we have been on the subject of Mount Dora, Florida, let’s talk about the best Mount Dora hotels and why you should visit.
There are several main hotels right around the Mount Dora area to choose from. You can choose to stay right in the heart of the town or a mile or two away from downtown. Either way you are very close but some prefer to be right in the middle of things. Here’s how it breaks down as of this writing. As you know, rates change from time to time and in different seasons.
E Com Lodge
There is the E Com Lodge for the budget minded. It is located at 18730 Hwy 441 and is about 2 miles away from downtown. They have both smoking and nonsmoking rooms starting at about $69. Warning though: They list “bath tub” as a feature of the room. (?) If you are just looking for a place to sleep and don’t care about any niceties this may be a good choice for you. No pets, unfortunately.

Hampton Inn
Next, there is the Hampton Inn. Again, this is not right in the downtown area but located at 19700 hwy 441 about a mile from downtown Mt Dora. They have 3 floors, 62 rooms, a fitness center, meeting rooms, swimming pool, the usual hotel amenities. Reviews online state that the hotel is clean, friendly, and comfortable. Rates for 2 queen beds start at $94.05, but I got “no availability for dates requested” for the rest of this month. So I would say that is a good sign, it seems to be a popular hotel. It seems like it might be a good mid-range priced hotel. It’s quite close to the flea market/antique market too. Of note, the website mentions there is 24-hour coffee and fruit in the hotel lobby. No pets allowed.

Quality Inn and Suites
Moving on, there is the Quality Inn and Suites which is located at 16630 Hwy 441. Two floors, 89 rooms. Or 62 rooms, depending on where you look for the info. No pets allowed. Some reviews mention the nonsmoking rooms smelled like smoke so you might want to check into that if this is important to you. I know that I would be really annoyed to find that my room smelled like smoke. But it have been an isolated occurrence that has been fixed since then. Free continental breakfast (muffin and coffee?). Rates start at $64.99.
Here is the meeting room (doesn’t look too comfy):

Lakeside Inn
And then of course there is the most famous and well-known hotel in the area which is the Lakeside Inn, home to the Beauclaire restaurant which has been raved about by many. I have to admit, even living in the area, I have not tried this restaurant but it is loved by many. I am reading, though, that the hotel rooms are “old and dirty” so you might want to do a room check before you commit to staying here. The benefit is you are right in the heart of downtown Mount Dora and can walk all over the place from your hotel. Plus of course the Beauclaire. Rates start at $96.00 so not too expensive at all.
Check out he photos to get an idea. I think it looks like a really nice hotel and worth checking into. You will love staying downtown Mt Dora because there are tons of shops to enjoy. Many other nice restaurants too besides the one at the hotel. Here are photos:

Mount Dora Historic Inn
Last but certainly not least is the Mount Dora Historic Inn. Just a walk away from downtown, this hotel actually seems to be the most well-loved by visitors. Their rooms are named such quaint things as Miss Elsie’s Room, Mister Charlie’s Room, Mary Grey’s Room, Dick’s Room, etc. Queen or King bed with 300-count sheets, private bath with tub or shower, pedesal sink, sitting/reading/relaxing area, wireless Internet, and more. Rates vary starting around $145. Full “gourmet breakfast” included.
In addition, there are cottages. From their website: “The cottage experience is a bit more private than that of a B & B. You have a home away from home with full kitchens, family rooms equipped with cable TV, private bedrooms, private bathrooms, outdoor living areas; and, of course WIFI.”
I must admit to not being too familiar with this B&B but it looks fabulous.
Here are some reviews that I found:
“This isn’t just the best B&B in Mt. Dora, this is the BEST B&B!”
“The service and charm were out of this world and do not miss the Julia Child gourmet style out of this world breakfasts….”
“Ana & Jim are gracious and welcoming; the place itself is impecable and lovely, the rooms are very comfortable and spacious….”
There are plenty more raves, just look around the ‘net.
