Mount Dora Craft Festival 2008 Coming Up Soon!
Get ready to head to Mt Dora, Florida, which is not too far from Orlando, just a hop, skip, and a jump basically. Who invented that phrase anyway? It’s a bit farther than that but still close enough that anyone in the Orlando area should definitely go. What am I babbling about? The 2008 Mount Dora Craft Festival of course.
I look forward to this festival and all the other arts and crafts shows every year, but this one is my favorite. I get so many great arts and crafts from this show, and a lot of times I find really nice Christmas gifts (since as you know, Christmas is just around the corner).
So this year’s craft festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th.
In addition to the craft festival itself with tons of artists and crafters set up at booths up and down every street, you can also shop in the quaint and unique shops all along the way. Also be sure to have some fresh-squeezed lemonade and some kettle corn and of course an elephant ear! So what if you feel sick by the time you leave, it’s sort of like going to the fair, isn’t it? In that case, have a hot dog and a caramel apple too.
There is one booth, not sure where it is, but they always have the cutest Christmas ornaments made out of polymer clay. I have collected many of them over the years. There is always a lot of hand-made jewelry too, as well as these tall plant things that look like sticks to me but everyone buys them. You will see people carrying them all over. Mark my words, if you go there you’ll see what I mean. Business is always booming at the stick plant booth. One of these days I need to find out just what people do with those things.
Two years ago someone had some awesome Adirondack chairs that they had painted with some really cool designs and they reminded me of the chairs you find out in front of Margaritaville over at City Walk Universal. I didn’t buy one but have regretted it. I hoped I see them again this year. I didn’t see them last year.
So this is a head’s up to remember to mark your calendars for the 2008 Mount Dora Craft Festival. It’s well worth a drive out to Mt Dora.
