Food in Orlando Florida – What is a Good Place to Eat in Orlando Without Spending a Fortune?

Looking for food in Orlando Florida? Don’t want to use up your entire daily budget of food on one meal? Can’t say I blame you. Here are a few places that are really good but not overly expensive. Maybe not dirt cheap but not breaking the bank.

You would think that most people have been to Steak n Shake, but I am constantly amazed that there are actually a lot of people who have not tried this little restaurant that’s been around for so long. I highly recommend them for lunch if you stick to the steakburgers. I love those things, they are awesome. As far as fast-food burgers go they can’t be beat. Their little shoestring fries are really good too. They even have some very good desserts and super hand-dipped milkshakes. Now, if you go in and try something odd like spaghetti or fish, I can’t vouch for that and would not recommend it. Get a steakburger though, they are really good.

Big Boy is my very favorite fast food sit-down restaurant. I love the Big Boy sandwich and the Slim Jim. If you’ve ever been to Frisch’s Big Boy (used to be in Florida but not anymore), they are basically the same. Their onion rings are excellent, and you must have a hot fudge cake. Don’t miss it!

Of course you can always find a Denny’s or a Perkins, and if it’s late at night they are probably going to be open so you can grab something to eat at all hours. I think most of the Denny’s are open all night. The pancakes are Perkins are great.

If you are near the interstate you can usually find a Cracker Barrel nearby and this is a great place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. If it’s a Tuesday they have Butter Baked Chicken (as of this writing) which is one of my favorites. Really good. The roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy is my other favorite, and also chicken and dumplings.

Hot Dog Heaven over on East Colonial Drive is the place to go for authentic Chicago hot dogs. I don’t get over there too much anymore but it is well worth a stop in. Absolutely great hot dogs. Definitely 5 stars from me and plenty of others who rave about this place.
