FL Orlando Vacation – Thinking About a Vacation to Orlando?
Most people look forward to their yearly vacations with a fair amount of high expectations to have a fun and relaxing time away from the daily grind. There are plenty of choices of places to spend this precious time, and I highly recommend a FL Orlando vacation. Why? Well, the weather is great (although a little hot in the summer) and there are lots and lots of things to do. You’ll never get bored!
Since Orlando is centrally located you have easy access to both coasts so a day trip to the beach is as simply as driving over to one coast or the other. Time spent driving? Maybe an hour or less for the east coast, maybe 1-1/2 hours to the west coast. There are many beaches to choose from so it just depends on what activities you are looking for. If you go to Cocoa Beach you can also take in the Kennedy Space Center the same day. Daytona Beach allows you to experience “the world’s most famous beach” and there are plenty of activities there for your whole family. If you choose to go over to the Tampa area you can also take in Busch Gardens too.
There are also many lakes throughout the Central Florida Orlando area, and you can make use of them for swimming, boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, snorkeling (the springs are best for this), waterskiing, or whatever water sport you love.
Care to go hiking? There are many places to walk including state forests, state park, city parks, and paved trails like the West Orange Trail.
There are any number of places to shop including some excellent malls like the Fashion Square Mall, Altamonte Mall, Florida Mall, and Mall at Millenia. Also some outdoor shopping at the Winter Park Villages, and flea markets like the huge Sanford Flea World.
You’ll find fruit stands all around selling wonderful Florida oranges if you arrive sometime between around October to March. You should definitely pick up some. The oranges grown in Florida and bought fresh at the fruit stands are delicious and nothing like the things in the grocery stores.
And of course there are the numerous theme parks and themed water parks available for you including Disney, Universal, Sea World, Islands of Adventure, and nearby Busch Gardens as well as Wet n Wild, Aquatica, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon.
Old Town over in Kissimmee has rides, shopping, and many restaurants to enjoy, or you could visit the city of Celebration which is a really interesting little picture-perfect town conceived by the fine folks at Disney.
Speaking of Disney, don’t forget the Downtown Disney area with the Disney Marketplace. It’s separate from the theme park and requires no admission fee but is jam packed with plenty of stuff to do like Disney Quest, the La Nouba show, a huge movie theater, the House of Blues, and also the Rainforest Cafe as well as plenty of unique shops.
So keep Central Florida in mind for your FL Orlando vacation, there is plenty for everyone to enjoy.
