Cheap Orlando Vacations – What is there to do for Cheap in Orlando?
You probably think everything in Orlando is expensive and overpriced, but it may surprise you to find out that you can have a cheap Orlando vacation.
Okay maybe not dirt cheap but more inexpensive than you may have originally thought. To me, all vacations are somewhat expensive but I tend to buy a lot of unnecessary stuff (isn’t that what vacations are for?) and spend a lot of unnecessary money (again, isn’t this what you’re supposed to do?).
Okay now that I think of it I may not be the best person to talk about cheap vacations. But since I live here I know there are some things you can do for less money if you really want to.
I’m a big fan of the West Orange Trail. Last time I checked it was 20-something miles long and I find it to be a lot of fun. You can walk, jog, roller blade, bike, or even ride a horse on parts of it. It goes all through a bunch of cities from Clermont all the way over to Apopka which is quite a ways. Now don’t say, “That’s not Orlando.” It’s right there on the outskirts so it is, to me, a part of Orlando. I simply consider Orlando and all its surrounding cities as part of the Central Florida area.
There’s also a place over in Eustis (again, a surrounding area) called Myjestic Ranch where you can go and watch team penning the weekends, usually Saturday evenings. I doubt you will find it in any tour books but it’s fun and relaxing.
Ice skating at the RDV Sportsplex is a lot of fun and not too expensive.
The Orlando Science Center is interesting and inexpensive.
The Central Florida Zoo is available and cheap, a great way to pass a few hours of the day. Bring your camera and get some great photos.
One thing I enjoy is to go to the lakes and watch the boats launching in and out. It may sound boring but it’s pretty entertaining and doesn’t cost anything at all. You get to watch very inept people trying to back up their vehicles and launch their boats (and some who are really good at it). You also get to take a look at a lot of really nice watercraft.
Speaking of lakes, you can rent a jet ski or a pontoon and take advantage of all the lakes and waterways in the Orlando area.
There are many flea markets available including Flea World in Sanford which is huge.
People watching is free everywhere and is always fun.
