Best Chinese Restaurant in Orlando?
I hear people talking a lot about what the best Chinese restaurant around is. There are tons to choose from, and I’ve tried quite a few of them and that includes some that are supposed to be just like the Chinese food in New York.
I’ve never been to NY so not sure about that. I do know that I’m really sick of all the Chinese places in the strip malls where the friend rice is yellow. Why do they use yellow rice? I remember a great Chinese place over around University Blvd and Semoran back when I lived over in that area, and they had awesome food, and especially delicious pork fried rice. I’m not sure if that place is still there anymore.
Then there was another place that we used to go to when I worked over near Fashion Square and the Herndon area. This was years ago when Florida National Bank was still around. I worked for the data center which was located right in that area and we used to go to a restaurant called Lam’s Garden which was right across from what used to be the Colonial Mall (where Barnes and Noble plus all the zillions of other stores are now).
It actually is located in a strip mall but it is not like the usual places you find there. We used to go over and get pork fried rice during our break at work and bring it back to eat and it was absolutely wonderful. I recently stopped in a few months ago with a friend to see if anything had changed because I was having a hard time finding some decent pork fried rice. Either everyone uses the yellow rice or they put these horrid little orange squares in it (what are they?).
I was very happy to discover that nothing at all has changed! You can still go in, sit down at a table, and enjoy a nice dinner. My favorite is orange chicken and of course pork fried rice. Both were delicious! Also the hot tea was really great too. Totally enjoyed myself.
So, if you are looking for a great Chinese restaurant in the Orlando area you should most definitely try Lam’s Garden. I think you will really enjoy it. It’s located 2505 E. Colonial Drive. (By the way, I’ve been back 2 or 3 more times in the past couple months, pretty much every time I am in the area.)
